I hate slow web pages that require you to go download the latest plug-in from some third party. Many
people are worried they might be installing a virus if they have to download something to view your
web page. I know they sometimes contact me to find out if it will be OK. Unless your aim is to impress
with your technology skills then I believe you should aim to appeal to the largest audience and hence
I firmly believe you should keep it simple.
As I just find fancy websites irritating I haven't bothered to write one. Pictures are fine if suitably
compressed and I can incorporate your prints, 35mm slides, 35mm negatives into your website. Indeed I
will take the photographs if required (I am a member of the Bureau of Freelance Photographers). I am
also skilled at digitally processing images and can produce quite good, but still small (hence fast
to load) images. eg. the Red Arrows picture on the front page is less than 8KB - it should display in
around 2 seconds even without broadband.
In short, it's fair to say fancy web design is not my strong point, but I do like to help out my
customers in all areas if possible. If you really want fancy animated pages then I am not really the
best person to contact. On the other hand if you want something fairly simple like these pages then
I will have no problem meeting your needs.
